? Why am I Here?

This is a question that pops into our minds from time to time.

John, the Baptist, grew up in a Family of Faith.  His mother was a descendant of Aaron, the brother of Moses.  His father was a priest in the temple in Jerusalem.  John lived in the wild and looked wild.  Scripture tells us he wore a camel skin cloak with a leather belt and ate honey from the comb and locusts.  John’s call to ministry was to testify to the Light coming into the world.  He was to witness to Jesus, the Light of the World.  He proclaimed this message to all who would listen and especially to the religious elite of his day.

While we may not be called to address the elite, the leaders of our own day, we are called to be descendants of John – to witness to the Light of Jesus as we go about our daily living.  At the post office, at the grocery store, at the coffee shop, at the shopping venues, behind the wheel, we are to witness through our actions and through our words, that the Light of Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life for us.

That is why we are here!
