Wednesday Morning Bible Study – Autumn 2017
“The Three Letters of John”
According to Christian tradition, John, the Beloved Disciple”, and Mary, the Mother of Jesus, spent their last days in Asia Minor in the city of Ephesus. It is further believed that the church in Ephesus together with several other churches in that area formed what can be referred to as the “Community of the Beloved Disciple.”
Four books in the canon of the New Testament are thought to reflect the teachings and historical circumstances of this “community.” These are the Gospel of John and three documents called the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Letters of John. This fall the Wednesday Morning Bible Study group will be reading and discussing the three letters of John. You are invited to be part of this group as we together we explore these inspired and inspiring documents from the early days of the Christian church. The group meets every Wednesday morning from 10:30 to noon in the parish library.
