K.I.S.S.

The readings for this Sunday might easily be summarized as stay focused and keep it simple. The collect of the day states that all God’s commandments can be summarized as love God and love neighbor, as devoted to God “with our whole heart and united to one another with pure affection.”

In Galatians, St. Paul writes of living in the spirit of gentleness, how bearing one another’s burdens is fulfilling the law of Christ.

Even when we live as sheep amidst a world of wolves, we overcome with love.

The founding fathers, with all their shortcomings, recognized in the Declaration of Independence, that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness…” They pledged “to each other our lives our fortunes, and our sacred honor.”

May we stay focused and keep it simple as we love God and love neighbor – even when it is challenging, among the wolves or our present day.
