Our new committee, Education, continues it’s work to develop plans for providing a Christian Education component to our worship services. At this point we are concentrating on getting lessons to bring quickly into use as required by needs of any particular Sunday service.
We are looking into lessons such as: Noah and the Ark; Joseph and the Coat of Many Colors; Daniel and the Lion’s Den; David and Goliath; Moses Story; Ruth and Naomi; The Good Samaritan and The Lord’s Prayer.
As we move forward with this program, we will need to have people to do the actual leading, which also means that we must have more parishioners go through the Safe Church Training Program. Jim Rogers
Liturgies of Resurrection a.k.a. Funerals
People of faith know there is life beyond our time here on earth. As Jesus was raised from the tomb, so we will be raised from death as well. That being said, a great gift the departed can give to those who remain is in planned liturgy and other directives. Summertime is a great time when the pace is slowed, to sit down with family, friends and your priest to develop the plans. Please be in touch so we can sit and work on these together. It usually takes a conversation or two. Paul
All People with Keys to All Saints
A reminder that when you enter and unlock a door or doors, that as you leave you need to relock the door or doors. Please do this even if other people are in the building. If you are the last one to leave the building, please check all the doors before you leave. Paul
As a centrally located church in the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania, All Saints has been designated to host diocesan meetings as a “Diocesan Hub”. We have made our parish hall with the projection screen available to both diocesan and community groups before, but now the diocese has provided a laptop computer and a new projector for the diocesan group to use.
We are finding that internet access, including Skype, is an important feature for meetings as we continue to grow our commitment to being a resource to both the diocese and the community.
May 11, 2014: Mother’s Day and UTO Spring Gathering
On Sunday May 11th, the men of the church will host the coffee hour in honor of the women of the church.
This Sunday will also be the United Thank Offering spring ingathering. The mission of the United Thank Offering is to expand the circle of thankful people. To achieve this mission, we encourage daily prayers, offerings, and awareness of the abundance of God’s Blessings.
May 12, 2014: Vacation Bible School Meeting
It is that time of year again to start planning for Vacation Bible School. In order to start the process, I would like to have a meeting on Monday, May 12th at 6:30 PM at All Saints. At this meeting, we will be discussing the theme of Bible School, the crafts, food, lessons, music and games. Could you please respond to let me know if you will or will not be able to make it to this meeting? Alicia Stranko
June 8, 2014: Pentecost Sunday
Sunday, June 8th is Pentecost. As has been our custom, there will be a potluck lunch that Sunday. There will be a sign up sheet on the media table in the parish center. Saint Mary’s Guild will be providing red flowering plants to decorate the church. These then will be planted in the gardens. Remember to wear red that Sunday!
June 15, 2014: Father’s Day
On Sunday, June 15, the women of the church will be hosting the coffee hour in honor of all the men.
September 27, 2014: Pig Roast Street Fair
The application for the street fair along with a check for $50 has been sent to Selinsgrove Projects, Inc (the street fair people). We will have the identical spot as last year. Thank you, Bob and Brenda Stranko
September 27, 2014: Flea Market
Please start saving saleable items for the fundraiser of Saint Mary’s Guild. After the primary election in May, items may be brought to the lower level of the parish hall when the church is open. It would be helpful if you sort them before dropping them off. There are boxes available in the undercroft back room.
