Give Thanks to the Lord
In a world where the urgent frequently drowns out the important, the author of Psalm 105 reminds us not to lose sight of the eternal in the midst of the day to day. The psalmist reminds us to:
– “give thanks to the Lord God, call on his name, make known his deeds among the peoples.”
– “sing to him, sing praises to him, speak of all his wonderful works.”
-“glory in his Holy Name; let the heart of those who seek the Lord God rejoice.”
Of course we can do all these actions in private, yet it is so much more encouraging and spirit renewing to do them in a gathering on Sunday mornings at church. Worshiping together on Sundays strengthens us to faithfully face our daily grind, our daily chores, and our daily challenges.
As Americans, we say in our pledge that we are “one nation under God.” Wouldn’t it be wonderful to celebrate that fact side by side on Sunday!
