How do we build lasting, deep community?
Some communities are formed around complaining, sharing gripes, “ain’t it awful”. In my experience, community formed around negativity is shallow, poorly rooted. Community formed around light, around building rather than tearing down, has the opportunity to last with deep roots that endure even in dry times. The church, at our best, is built to last. We of All Saints are grounded in worship, education, service, generosity, and caring conversation. Yes, we to sometimes endure storms of negativity, yet our focus is always on the good news, on the gospel, of Jesus Christ. When Jesus called his very first disciples, he called them to repent, to wake-up, and to see the goodness of God and to share in its proclamation.
