Musicians:

Katie Gegenheimer, French Horn, is from central New York, where she graduated from Jordan-Elbridge High School. She attended Grace College in Winona Lake, IN for studies in music. While there, she traveled extensively throughout the United States as a member of Grace Brass. Katie’s most memorable experience, however, was when the ensemble traveled to South Korea and China to perform and teach. Katie also worked with high school marching bands and played in several professional and community ensembles during her time in Indiana. She has continued her involvement in music in various capacities, both professionally and as a volunteer. She served as an instructor and eventually director of her alumni, the Jordan-Elbridge Marching Band, where her group won a state championship. Katie currently maintains an active performing schedule with several local ensembles, including the Sunbury City Band, the Selinsgrove Adult Band, and the Catawissa Military Band.

Art Montgomery, Tuba, is a native of Selinsgrove, who graduated from Selinsgrove High School and subsequently completed degrees at Lycoming College and Garrett Theological Seminary. Upon graduation from seminary he was ordained as a United Methodist minister and throughout his career has pastored churches in various locations in Central Pennsylvania. Art is now retired, even though he has continued to assist local churches when needed. Throughout his public school and college years Art played tuba in various musical organizations. Before his retirement, he played in the Greenwood Community Band in Millerstown, PA and currently is active in the Sunbury Community Band and the Selinsgrove Adult Band. Art’s other interests include playing fingerstyle guitar, serving on the Board of Directors for Selinsgrove Area Meals on Wheels and volunteering in other community organizations. He and His wife Gwyn are the parents of three grown children and now reside in the Lewisburg area.

Tom Gegenheimer, “Superbone”, grew up in central New York, attending Baldwinsville High School. After graduating from the prestigious Crane School of Music with a degree in music education, Tom taught instrumental music in NYS for seven years before moving to Pennsylvania in 2011. He has since worked with both the Newport and Milton school districts. He currently serves as director of the Sunbury City Band and the Spirit of Swing Big Band. He is an active member of the Selinsgrove Adult Band and assistant conductor of the Catawissa Military Band, as well as an instructor for the Bloomsburg University Marching Band. He also serves as coordinator for the Mid-Penn Band Festival. He maintains a private lesson studio, teaching wind/percussion and piano to all age groups. On August 26th, 2017, Art performed the service at Katie and Tom’s wedding. If Tom isn’t doing something music-related, you’re sure to find him fixing a car or tinkering with anything that’s broken!

Together, Katie, Art, and Tom comprise Three’s Company Brass. Formed during the fall of 2016, TCB’s primary mission is to bring the wondrous joy of music to those who may not be able to go out and see a live performance. While the ensemble performs at many of the various nursing and retirement homes in the lower Susquehanna Valley, they also are pleased to include church services, background music, and civic events to their busy calendar! Instrumentation is very important when forming a chamber ensemble. The combination of the French horn, trombone, and tuba creates a certain warmth of timbre. Tom will occasionally perform on trumpet, French horn, or tuba depending on the needs of the ensemble and style of music.
