Alleluia! Alleluia!
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Christ is Risen.
The Lord is Risen indeed.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
The 20th chapter of the gospel according to St. John is awesome. The stone is rolled away from the entrance and the tomb is empty, but orderly with the linens used for the burial neatly arranged, and angels are there to converse with the grief stricken Mary of Magdalene.
Mary was the first to visit the tomb before dawn on that Easter Sunday. While Peter and an unnamed disciple visited the tomb and then returned home. Mary persisted and was rewarded and greeted by the Risen Jesus. Her persistence enabled her to see through the tears of grief and they were transformed into tears of joy.
Mary of Magdalene is a model for us – to persist, even through tears of grief – into the joy of new life and new beginnings.
