Accentuate the Positive
On Sunday, I shared an old song for 1945 that I can remember my parents playing on our 78 record player.
“You’ve got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don’t mess with Mister In-Between.
You’ve got to speed joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium’s
Liable to walk upon the scene.”
Our gospel lesson encouraged us to not try to separate the wheat from the weeds, rather let Gods angels do the reaping. In the meantime, following Jacob’s lead, we can celebrate God’s presences as we discern it in our day to day experience. We can “accentuate the positive” and “eliminate the negative.”
